For 18 years, Coach Bobby Kramer built the Dobie tennis program into a state-recognized powerhouse, starting in 1977. At its peak in the mid-1980s, the program achieved numerous Top 10 state rankings and dominated District 23-5A. 

From 1983, his girls' team won five consecutive district team titles, and his combined boys and girls' teams secured three straight district championships beginning in 1985. His 1985 and 1987 squads made it to the regional semifinals. In 1986, the Longhorns posted a remarkable 59-4 district record and reached the regional final. 

After retiring in 1995, Kramer was elected to the Texas Tennis Coaches Association Hall of Fame and was also named to the Dobie Faculty Hall of Honor.
