Schroeder, Roy

HOF Class of 2022

For Ron Schroeder, life has always been defined by faith, family, and golf. A standout golfer from his freshman year at Sam Rayburn High School, he quickly rose to prominence as Pasadena ISD individual champion, district champion, and all-city honoree. After graduating, he went on to compete for Sam Houston State University, where he played alongside future legends Fuzzy Zoeller and Gary McCord and helped lead the Bearkats to two NAIA national championships. Schroeder capped his college career as an All–Lone Star Conference selection.

After college, Schroeder dominated the amateur circuit, winning the Greater Houston Amateur Championship five times, qualifying for multiple USGA events, and proving himself among the region’s elite. Following his 25-year career as a Houston police officer, he pursued professional golf full-time, capturing titles at the Jamaican Open, Colorado Senior Open, Waterloo Senior Open, and four victories on the Southern Senior Mini-Tour. He was twice named Southern Texas PGA Senior Player of the Year (2017, 2018), and in 2018 added the Texas Senior Open to his list of accomplishments.

For Schroeder, the true joy of the game comes not just from the victories but from sharing the journey with his wife, Gale, and their two sons. His story reflects a lifelong commitment to excellence—on the course and beyond.
