Mission Forward Listening Circles - What We Heard | Round 2

October 22, 2026 | Bondy Intermediate
As part of Mission Forward, Pasadena ISD is continuing to meet with parents, employees, and community members to listen and learn from the people who know our schools best.
During our second round of Listening Circles, we met with:
- Two English-speaking parent groups
- One Spanish-speaking parent group
- One employee group
These conversations are not about making decisions. They are about listening, learning, and understanding what matters most to our community as we plan for the future.
What We're Hearing
People Make the Difference
The most consistent message across every group was the importance of people.
Families shared stories about teachers who cared, counselors who supported their children, principals who were visible and approachable, and staff members who helped during difficult times.
Employees shared stories about serving students and families during Hurricane Harvey, COVID, severe weather events, and other challenges facing our community.
Again and again, participants told us that the people of Pasadena ISD are what make the district special.
Families Value Student Opportunities
Families and employees spoke proudly about the opportunities available to students across the district.
Programs mentioned most often included:
- Dual Language
- Special Education
- Early College High School
- Career and Technical Education (CTE)
- Fine Arts
- Athletics
- Advanced Academics
- Student clubs and activities
Many participants shared stories about how these opportunities helped students discover their interests, build confidence, and prepare for their future.
Communication Matters
Communication was one of the most common topics discussed in every group.
Families want information earlier and more consistently. They want to know about programs, opportunities, scholarships, college pathways, and important deadlines before decisions need to be made.
Employees also emphasized the importance of communication during times of change and wanting to feel informed and included.
The message was simple:
People want clear information, delivered early and often.
Access Matters
Participants talked about making sure students and families can fully participate in the opportunities available to them.
Conversations included:
- Transportation
- Language accessibility
- Awareness of programs
- Extracurricular participation
- Access to information
Families generally agreed that Pasadena ISD offers many strong opportunities. They want to make sure every student has a chance to take advantage of them.
Students Need More Than Academics
Many participants talked about preparing students for life, not just graduation.
Families discussed the importance of helping students develop:
- Communication skills
- Leadership skills
- Responsibility
- Financial literacy
- Problem-solving skills
- Career readiness
- Confidence
The goal is not simply to help students earn a diploma, but to help them succeed in whatever path they choose after high school.

What's Next?
The Listening Circles are one part of the Mission Forward process.
The feedback shared by parents, employees, and community members will be considered alongside enrollment, staffing, facilities, financial, and student achievement data as Pasadena ISD continues planning for the future.
One message has remained consistent throughout every conversation:
People are proud of Pasadena ISD. They want us to protect the relationships, opportunities, and sense of community that make Pasadena special while continuing to prepare students for the future.
Thank you to everyone who has participated and shared their experiences. Your voice is helping shape the conversations ahead.
