Cortney Swan was born and raised in Pasadena, Texas, and has dedicated her career to education, serving the Pasadena Independent School District for 15 years. She earned her undergraduate degree from Sam Houston State University, where she developed a strong foundation for her passion for teaching. Cortney further advanced her education by obtaining a Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University, which enhanced her leadership skills and educational expertise.
Cortney began her teaching journey in 2010 at Carter Lomax Middle School, where she taught reading and mathematics. In 2016, she transitioned to the role of Mathematics Instructional Coach, and by 2019, she was promoted to Campus Content Specialist. In her current position, Cortney supports De Zavala Middle School and other middle school campuses across the district. She plays a vital role in writing curriculum, educating teachers, creating and presenting professional development, and supporting instructional coaches.
Outside of her professional life, Cortney is married to David, who is also an instructional coach at Carter Lomax Middle School. They are proud parents of two boys and enjoy spending their weekends watching their sons participate in various sports.
