Lady Trojans Earn Spot in First Texas Girls Flag Football Championship

PASADENA, Texas — Pasadena Independent School District announced that the South Houston High School Lady Trojans Flag Football Team has punched its ticket to the first‑ever Texas Girls Flag Football State Championship, heading to DATCU Stadium at the University of North Texas on June 13–14 after an undefeated inaugural season led by MVP Aniyah Capers.

The Lady Trojans have demonstrated exceptional heart, grit, and determination throughout the season, dominating competition from the opening snap and establishing themselves among the best programs in the state of Texas. Their performance reflects the hard work, character, and Trojan pride that define South Houston High School.
Senior Aniyah Capers was named Most Valuable Player in recognition of her outstanding leadership and talent on and off the field. A standout multisport athlete, Capers has been a driving force for the Lady Trojans throughout the season.
The success of this inaugural program is a testament to the leadership of Head Coach Reyna and Coach Stevens, who have invested countless hours building the team from the ground up and preparing these student-athletes to compete at the highest level.

“Trojan Nation is beyond proud of these young ladies and what they have accomplished in their very first season,” said Dr. Toni Lopez, Superintendent of Pasadena ISD. “To go undefeated and earn a berth in the inaugural state championship is a historic achievement — not just for South Houston, but for our entire district.
