Pasadena, TX — Students from Dr. Dixie Melillo Middle School demonstrated innovation and teamwork during the Spring 2025 Build the Moon Challenge, a Texas Space Grant program that engages students in developing construction concepts for future lunar habitats.

Led by Melillo coach Nicole Ram, the Mustangs designed landing pads, brick walls and habitat structures using lunar regolith simulants, earning top honors and national recognition. Their success highlights the growing impact of space‑focused STEM education in Texas classrooms and is featured in the Texas Space Grant June 2025 Newsletter.
