Mills, Alicia

HOF Class of 2014

Alicia Mills was a dominant multi-sport athlete at Dobie High School and a collegiate and professional volleyball star. Known for her 6-foot-3 stature, she made her opponents uneasy on the court and on the track. In 1988, she won the Texas high jump title with a leap of 5-8, a feat that made her only the second female athlete in Pasadena ISD history to win a state championship. In volleyball, she led the Lady Longhorns to district titles in both her junior and senior years.

Mills' success continued at Long Beach State, where she helped her team win an NCAA championship in her freshman season in 1989. She went on to earn All-Conference honors and was a Third-Team All-American as a senior, capping a remarkable collegiate career.

Mills' athletic prowess extended to the international stage as a member of the U.S. national team, earning silver medals at both the 1994 Goodwill Games and the 1995 Pan American Games. She also had a successful professional career in Europe and on the beach volleyball circuit, where she consistently ranked among the top players in blocks and aces. In 2014, Alicia Mills Polzin was inducted into the Pasadena ISD Athletics Hall of Fame for her outstanding contributions to athletics.
