Q: Can you share a bit about your background with Pasadena ISD?
I attended Pasadena ISD schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. Most importantly, I graduated in 2012 from Sam Rayburn High School.
Q: Tell us a little bit about your journey after you graduated from Pasadena ISD.
After high school, I spent most of my time in creative circles. I worked as a private music instructor and participated in local art and music shows. Through those experiences, I found community and built meaningful relationships that continue to shape where I am today.
Q: What lessons did Pasadena ISD instill in you, and how have you used that knowledge to get where you are now?
I had many meaningful mentors and teachers throughout my education—educators who helped me see value in my experiences and encouraged my desire to create. I feel fortunate to have had teachers who allowed me to push the limits of my creativity. Pasadena ISD, along with the Pasadena community, is very family-oriented, and that sense of community has been a cornerstone of my journey.
Q: What inspired you to pursue your current career?
I’ve always had a desire to connect with people and create art that not only adds beauty to a space but also builds bridges within a community. Growing up, murals, street art, and graffiti were my museums. Experiencing that kind of art shaped me, and it’s a feeling I want to continuously share with others.
Q: What does it mean to you to be able to come back and share your work with the Pasadena ISD community?
It means everything. There are so many beautiful and creative people here. Pasadena is home because it’s what fed me and raised me, and any opportunity I have to share my art or experiences with this community is a true honor.
Q: What's your ultimate goal for your career?
My ultimate goal is to never remain stagnant but to always continue learning in one way or another. I want to keep creating meaningful work across different mediums. Another goal I’ve set for myself is to share what I’ve learned and pass that knowledge on to other creatives.
Q: What's your favorite part about your job?
My favorite thing is leaving a project that has been well executed, that I am proud of, and at the same time leaving with a whole new experience. Doing mural work has allowed me to meet so many people, learn about their dreams and visions for their organizations and businesses. I meet many people, and it's cool to see the ins and outs of the city's fabric.
Q: What's some advice you would give to current students or recent graduates?
Stay authentic. Your story is uniquely yours, and there is so much gold in that already. Create and build even when no one is watching. Learn to love the journey and not the idea of it. God wastes no thing, so experience life, fail, and try, but never give up.
