Evacuations

FRONT DOOR EVACUATION IN EMERGENCIES ONLY

Students should keep all belongings on bus, (books, instruments, etc.) so as not to impede quick movement of bus (no wasting time, but no pushing or shoving, either).

REAR DOOR EVACUATION

At the Driver's signal, "Rear Door Evacuation," the two persons nearest the Emergency Door should open the door (raise latch) to exit bus.  The first two persons, once out, should position themselves on opposite sides of the door to assist, if necessary, the evacuating students.  The third person out should lead the other students, single file, to a place of safety.  Students should evacuate, front to back, alternating door side seat first, then driver side seat, etc. until students are completely unloaded.  Driver should then move quickly to rear Emergency Exit, checking along the way to make certain all students have evacuated.  Driver should carry emergency equipment off bus (select assistant to help, if necessary).  Follow same Post Evacuation Procedure as prescribed in Front Door Evacuation.

The safest way is to sit and scoot if time allows

FRONT AND REAR DOOR EVACUATION

On the command of the driver, "Front and Rear Door Evacuation," students seated from the front seats through mid-bus, will follow the prescribed procedure for "Front Door Evacuation," while students seated from mid-bus to the rear seats will follow the procedure for "Rear Door Evacuation".
