ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES FOR 4-YEAR-OLD PRE-K.

To qualify for a PK4 your child must be 4 on or before September 1, 2023 (2023-2024) or September 1, 2024 (2024-2025) and meet at least ONE of the following requirements:  

Limited English Proficiency: Eligibility determined after the Home Language Survey is completed, Oral Language Proficiency Test is administered, and the LPAC  committee gives final approval; Child must be present at registration to be tested with oral language assessment.

Educationally Disadvantaged: Eligibility is determined when the student qualifies under the income guidelines of the National School Lunch Program. Must provide proof of household income in one of the following forms: current paycheck stub, letter from employer stating gross wages paid and how often they are paid, disability payment stub, current SNAP or TANF documentation. Homeless: Defined by 42 United States Code Section 1143a, regardless of the residence of the child, of either parent of the child, or the child's guardian or other person having lawful control of the child; eligibility determined when identified by the PISD Homeless Liaison. 

Military: Parent must be on active duty or killed/injured while on active duty. Military identification or appropriate letter must be provided and verified at enrollment. 

Foster Care: Child is currently or has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services. A letter from the Department of Family and Protective Services is required at enrollment. 

Children of recipients of the Star of Texas Award:  The resolution (certificate) awarded to the individual serves as proof of eligibility and must be presented at enrollment.   


CONDITIONS OF ENROLLMENT
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF REGISTRATION TO ESTABLISH FULL ELIGIBILITY FOR PREKINDERGARTEN

 Proof of child’s age and identity for Pre-Kindergarten students
Must present an original or certified copy of birth certificate at the time of registration
Record of current immunizations, Must be up-to-date.
Proof of Residency Acceptable documents include the following: Two documents required Deed Mortgage Payment Booklet Current Lease or Rental Agreement and Current Utility Bill (water, gas, electric, land-line phone)

Please note: If your residence or housing is uncertain, you lack a permanent physical address or live at a temporary address, you can still enroll in school.

Other Documents for Eligibility Determination:

GUIA DE ELEGIBILIDAD PARA NIÑOS DE 4 AÑOS
Para calificar para PK4, su hijo debe tener 4 años el 1 de septiembre del 2022 (2022-2023) o el 1 de septiembre del 2023 (2023-2024) o antes y cumplir con al menos UNO de los siguientes requisitos:

Dominio limitado del inglés: la elegibilidad se determina después de que se complete la Encuesta sobre el idioma del hogar, se realice la prueba de dominio del idioma oral y el comité de LPAC dé la aprobación final; El niño debe estar presente en el registro para ser examinado con la evaluación del lenguaje oral.

En desventaja educativa: la elegibilidad se determina cuando el estudiante califica según las reglas de ingresos del Programa Nacional de Almuerzos Escolares. Debe presentar un comprobante de ingresos del hogar en una de las siguientes formas:  talón de cheque actual, carta del empleador que indique el salario pagado y la frecuencia con la que se les paga, talón de pago por incapacidad, documentación actual de SNAP o TANF.

Sin hogar: Definido por  el Código 42 de Estados Unidos, Sección 1143a, independientemente de la residencia del niño, de la residencia de cualquiera de los padres del niño, o del tutor del niño u otra persona que tenga control legal del niño; la elegibilidad sera determinana cuando se identifique por el oficial de personas sin hogar de PISD.

Militar: El padre debe estar en servicio activo o aver muerto / ser herido mientras estába en servicio activo.  La identificación militar o carta apropiada debe ser proporcionada y verificada en el momento de la inscripción.

Cuidado de Crianza por el Estado: El niño esta actualmente o ha estado en el cuidado del Departamento de Servicios de Protección y Familia.  Se requiere una carta del Departamento de Familia y Servicios de Protección al momento de la inscripción. Hijos de los destinatarios del Premio Star of Texas: La resolución (certificado) otorgada a la persona sirve como prueba de elegibilidad y debe presentarse al momento de la inscripción.

CONDICIONES DE INSCRIPCIÓN
DOCUMENTOS REQUERIDOS AL MOMENTO DEL REGISTRO PARA ESTABLECER LA ELEGIBILIDAD COMPLETA PARA PREKINDERGARTEN.
Prueba de edad e identidad del niño para los estudiantes de Pre-Kindergarten. Debe presentar el acta de nacimiento original o una copia certificada  al momento de la inscripción.

Registro de inmunizaciones actuales.
Debe presentar las vacunas actualizadas para su hijo.

Prueba de residencia
Los documentos aceptables incluyen lo siguiente:
Dos documentos requeridos
Escrituras Folleto de pago de hipoteca
Contrato de alquiler actual y Factura de servicios públicos actual (agua, gas, electricidad, teléfono fijo)

Tenga en cuenta: si su residencia o vivienda es incierta, no tiene una dirección física permanente o vive en una dirección temporal, todavía puede inscribirse en la escuela.  Comuníquese con el secretario de asistencia de la escuela o con la oficina para personas sin hogar del distrito escolar al 713-740-0250 para obtener más información.
