DRESS AND GROOMING

A professional standard of dress requires that staff members should be readily distinguishable from students.  Role modeling is a part of the employee’s professional responsibilities. 

Supervising administrators shall be authorized to inform employees of the standard of dress and grooming required by the District and to appraise any fashion or fad to determine if it is appropriate in the employee’s setting.  The supervising administrator shall advise employees needing to modify their dress and/or grooming to achieve high standards of neatness, appropriateness, and good taste.

SPECIFIC STANDARDS

Employees shall be expected to abide by the dress and grooming standards specified for students (See FNCA), with the following special provisions. 

1.     Male employees shall be allowed to wear a well-trimmed mustache and beard. 

2.    Male employees shall wear collared dress shirts or collared polo shirts with school, university or department logos. 

3.      Employees may not wear tennis shoes, flip-flops or other loose fitting sandals. 

4.     Employees shall not be allowed to wear jeans or capris.  Pants/slacks must be ankle length/full length.

EXCEPTIONS

Dress requirements may be relaxed by the supervising administrator on special designated spirit days on Friday, for field trips or for campus-sponsored staff development programs on non-instructional days. On these days tennis shoes and jeans may be allowed. 

Only physical education personnel may wear shorts, and only in the performance of physical education/coaching responsibilities.

USE OF P.I.S.D.
OWNED VEHICLES

All drivers of Pasadena Independent School District owned vehicles shall comply with the following regulations. 

1.      All employees who drive P.I.S.D. vehicles must qualify for School district fleet coverage insurance. 

2.      All district vehicles must be parked in a secure area and locked when not in use. 

3.      Only authorized P.I.S.D. employees shall drive district vehicles.  Unauthorized passengers are not allowed in vehicles. 

4.      Drivers shall not drive in a discourteous or reckless manner. 

5.      It is the responsibility of all drivers to make sure that district vehicles are kept in a state of neatness and cleanliness inside and out. 

6.      Any repairs that need to be made on vehicles should be reported to the Transportation Department by the use of a written Work Order.

SMOKING ON SCHOOL PROPERTY

Smoking and/or the use of tobacco products shall be prohibited in all district facilities. 

The Superintendent is authorized to establish further procedures or regulations necessary to implement this regulation.
