The Pasadena ISD Police Honor Guard was established in July of 2006.  The Honor Guard began with 5 members and currently consists of 8 team members.  All of the Honor Guard members are assigned to the Uniformed Patrol Division.  The Honor Guard team spends many hours in military drill type maneuvers to establish and maintain their high level of proficiency.

The Honor Guard is divided into three major details:  Color Guard Detail, Casket Guard Detail, and Flag Folding Detail.

The Color Guard Detail consists of four members: two end guards who carry M-1 rifles, and two flag bearers.  The Color Guard Detail is responsible for carrying, displaying, posting and retrieving the United States and Texas flag at ceremonies, dedications, sporting events, and special occasions.

The Casket Guard Detail is responsible for standing guard over a fallen officer.  The casket guard detail requires the effort of the entire team.  The detail performs their duty using silent commands when posting and relieving the casket detail members.  The Casket Guards stand at each end of the casket and remain with the fallen officer until he/she is laid to rest.

The Flag Folding Detail is responsible for folding the flag that covers the fallen officer’s casket.  The detail consists of three members.  One member is considered the Flag holder, one member the Flag folder, and the third member the Flag supporter.  The flag is folded at the casket and then presented to the family of the fallen officer.

The Pasadena ISD Police Department Honor Guard attends the funerals and performs duties for other Texas Peace Officers throughout the state to pay Tribute and Honor to fallen Peace Officers.

The Pasadena ISD Police Department Honor Guard team holds to the highest standard of training.  Each team member voluntarily dedicates their time and gladly serves to represent the Pasadena ISD Police Department.

Under the command of Chief C. L. Ellis, great measures were taken to provide the Honor Guard with the necessary support, equipment, and leadership.  Integrity and Honor are the focal point for this Honor Guard Team.  Each member is dedicated to be an elite example for other Police Departments in the State of Texas.

Humbly, we at the Pasadena ISD Police Department stand to Serve and Honor the fallen Peace Officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.  May we never forget the high cost of Peace.
