Sales Tax

Exempt Organization

PISD is exempt from paying sales tax on purchases of goods or services used for educational purposes.  The purchase, lease or rental of a taxable item is EXEMPT from tax when: 
 

1. Directly related to the purpose of the school.
    

2. The item remains school property and ownership does not pass to employee,  student or other individual.
    

3. The school or an employee pays for the item, AND
    

4. The vendor is provided with a Tax Identification Certificate, identifying PISD as a tax-exempt organization in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas.
