Pasadena ISD requires DIRECT
DEPOSIT of all employees. The major benefit is the guarantee that
paychecks will be deposited in your account every payday, even when you are ill
or on vacation. It is especially beneficial for those employees who are not
working during the summer. Direct deposit is an attractive and feasible option
for employees to receive their paychecks. The payroll department has the
capability of sending your check direct deposit into five (5) different
accounts. There is no need to stand in line at the bank or worry that your
check is lost or stolen in the mail.
The popularity of the ATM/DEBIT card
has increased incredibly over the past fifteen years. The ATM machine has
become so common in our society that we now can find one at every bank, shopping
mall, Wal-Mart, grocery store, etc. There has never been a better time to get
on direct deposit.
To sign up for Direct Deposit,
you must fill out a direct deposit form available from the Payroll website or
dept. or sign up through Employee Self Service online. Complete and return it along with a voided check or an account
confirmation slip from the bank to
the Payroll Department. New or changed accounts will go into affect
immediately. When you are on
direct deposit, you will receive a pay stub showing deductions, vacation or non
duty hours, sick leave hours, gross pay and net pay deposited.
MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS
- When is payday? The
15th and the end of the month. Checks are released early before a
holiday (i.e.: Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring Break).
- Can you tell me how
much my check is going to be? This kind of information cannot be released
over the phone. You must come to payroll in person and we will give you a
print out of your check stub. It is best to make an appointment so
payroll will be ready to service your needs and have a copy of your check
stub ready for you.
- What is the
date range for this pay period: The payroll schedule can be
found on the payroll BOPM or
- I signed up for
direct deposit, so why didn’t my check go into my account? You
will need to log back onto ESS to confirm your routing and bank account
numbers are correct. If both numbers are correct you will need to
contact your bank to see if they show a pending transaction for the check
release date. If not, you will need to contact the payroll specialist
for your location after the check release date.
- I am a substitute and
I am missing a day on my check? If you are missing a day on your check that
should have been there for that pay period, you will need to call the
secretary at the school you substituted at and she will check her records
before she can enter that day for the next pay check.
- I closed my bank
account. What do I need to do as far as payroll is concerned? Hopefully, you
notified payroll before you closed your account; however, if you did
not, then you need to notify payroll, as soon as possible, that you closed
your account so we can take you off direct deposit. You will need to add a new
routing and account number for your direct deposit. The changes will
be processed immediately.
- My TRS statement does
not match with my salary summary letter from Pasadena. Why? Because the
fiscal year does not match: TRS starts in September and PISD starts in
August.
- Why aren’t any taxes
coming out of my paycheck? It could be that your withholding is too high on
your W-4. Example: If you are claiming M 4, you have to earn $780.00 for the
first dollar to come out of your check.
- I want to stop my
annuity. What do I need to do? To make a 403(b) salary
reduction election or change you will need to go to
www.jemtpa.com. For detailed
instructions,

here.
- Are any
checks mailed? No. Direct Deposit is now mandatory for
every employee. If there is not a direct deposit account listed in
Employee Self Service your printed check is held in the Payroll Office.
You will be required to pick up your payments and complete your direct
deposit information on ESS.
- How do I
obtain a copy of my check stubs once I have tendered my resignation/intent
to resign? Before your last working day, you need to log onto
your ESS dashboard and change your e-mail address to a personal e-mail
address. For past paychecks, you will need to contact the payroll
department.
- How do I
retrieve copies of my paychecks? You will need to log onto ESS
then select paychecks.
- Why didn't I
receive a copy of my W2 forms? Is your correct address listed
in Employee Self Service? If not, you will need to log onto ESS to
make changes to your home address.
- How do I
retrieve copies of my W2 Forms? You will need to log onto ESS
then select Year to Date. The option to print your W2 form will be on
the top left corner of the page.
