SHHS Tardy Policy

                     There are two types of tardiness:
                      Tardy to School                 &                      Tardy to Class

  Tardy to School
   
  TARDINESS TO SCHOOL WILL BE EXCUSED ONLY BY VERIFICATION FROM ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
  • COURT
  • DOCTOR
  • PARENT EXPLANATION IN PERSON
Students with excused verification for tardiness will submit proper documentation in the attendance office.  After three absences or tardies, a doctor's note will be required.

  Tardy to Class
   
  If a student is in the hall when the tardy bell rings do NOT allow them in to class.
Students who are in the hall when the tardy bell rings will be sent to a central location where an admit will be issued .
  •  Students who are leaving campus for the day WILL ALSO BE ISSUED AN ADMIT and counted tardy.
  • Tardy passes will be issued for the FIRST FIVE minutes after the bell has rung.
  • Students who are still in the hallway after the five minute deadline will be escorted to the office.
Students should not be admitted into class if they do not have a tardy admit.
  • The students name, ID and class period will be on the admit.
  • The time the admit was issued will also be visible.
  • If too much time has elapsed since the admit was issued, the student should be sent to the office.
On the student's third tardy a detention will be assigned.  If the student fails to attend the detention, ISC will be issued for that day.  Further tardies will result in further punishments.

Tardies and unexcused absences will be monitored by the office.  Students who have excessive absences or tardies will be referred to the appropriate assistant principal.
