2006 Honored Alumnus Dr. Marvin L. (Rick) Baza, Jr., O.D. Class of 1969 Dr. Baza was class president both his Junior and Senior years at SoHo. He played football and played the drums in a Rock N' Roll Band. After graduating from SHHS, he went on to earn a Bachelors of Science and a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston. Dr. Baza entered private practice in November of 1975, and his offices are currently located in the Randall's shopping center at the corner of Preston and Fairmont Parkway (new offices at 4415 Crenshaw are currently being built). Dr. Baza is active in the community. He is a past president of the San Jacinto Optometric Society, and has been an active member of the Pasadena Rotary club since August of 1981. He is a past member of the Pasadena Area Cultural Arts Council and a founding member of the Pasadena Philharmonic Society. Dr. Baza has played the drums for the last 8 years in a contemporary Christian band called "One Accord," and is married to Dawn DeFrance (a former graduate of Pasadena High School). They have two grown children.

Treasurer, UIL Scholar, Court of Troy Since SoHo: Texas A&M University graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS in Biomedical Science - 1996 married Richard Peters! 1996 University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio - Dental School graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and Honors in Research - 2000 Worked 3 years as an associate dentist (1 year at The Community Clinic-a nonprofit healthcare clinic) 2003 - opened a family and cosmetic dental practice in Atascocita, TX recently sold practice to spend more time with young family and pursue other opportunities currently work part-time at the same Atascocita practice and when I'm not working I watch a lot of Sponge Bob and Sesame Street |
