Laura Welch Bush Elementary is named after the
former First Lady of the United States. Mrs. Bush, a former librarian, is an advocate of education and the importance and pleasures of reading.
The school opened at the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year on August 10, 2006. The new campus was part of the 2004 bond program that was approved by district voters.
Students participate in the Balanced Literacy program as part of the campus curriculum. The school also offers a dual-language program and state-of-the-art technology as part of the learning environment.
