Schneider Middle School was the first of the district’s campuses specifically designed for fifth and sixth grade students. Its boundary roughly overlaps the same boundary used by South Houston Intermediate School.
When it opened in August 2006, the campus, located at Bryant and Easthaven, housed
fifth graders from the Jessup attendance area who were attending the Morris Fifth Grade Campus. It
also took fifth graders from Freeman, Matthys, South Houston elementary
schools and sixth grade students from South Houston Intermediate. As a
result, Morris saw its enrollment drop from 860 students to
approximately 710. South Houston Intermediate dropped from 1190 to
approximately 920 students. The elementary schools involved in the
boundary change saw an enrollment decrease from 60-130.
