that have taken place in Mr. Miller's Fifth Grade Class.

SEPTEMBER 2007

Who is Bradley Chalkers and what are those 5th graders
in Mr. Miller's class up to?

After reading about a boy named Bradley Chalkers in the book There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom by Louis Sachar, Mr. Miller's class celebrated "Bradley Chalkers Day" by wearing mismatched socks, taking a peek inside the opposite gender's restroom, eating tuna fish and peanut butter sandwiches, and sporting black eyes.

What a fun way to celebrate literature! See the pictures below:

OCTOBER 2007

Solar Dogs!

Students in Mr. Miller's Class used the Sun's energy to cook hot dogs.
These pictures show the preparation of the solar ovens and the fun
they all had eating their science project.

OCTOBER 2007

                                                           Silverstein and a Nosh

Mr. Miller's class performed a program they called Silverstein and a Nosh, so named
because each student recited a Shel Silverstein poem and the class sang several food-related songs. These talented performers traveled throughout the school, performing for different classes over the course of two weeks. The pictures here show the final performance, to which parents, principals, and other staff members were invited.

OCTOBER 2007

Holes Day

After reading Louis Sachar's Holes, Mr. Miller's class reenacted parts of the book by digging for treasure, eating raw onion, and enjoying peach pie.
