BIOGRAPHIES:
Chris
Bussey - Athletic Coordinator/Head Coach
|
Coach
Bussey is beginning his third year as the
Athletic Coordinator/Head Football Coach of the
Sam Rayburn Texans. Previously, Coach
Bussey has been the Offensive
Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach for five years.
Coach is beginning his eleventh year at Sam
Rayburn High School. He is a graduate of Deer Park High School,
received a Bachelor of Science in Health and
Human Performance at McNeese State University in
Lake Charles, LA. Before coming to Sam
Rayburn, Coach Bussey coached at Westlake High
School in Westlake, LA, Barbe High School in
Lake Charles, LA, and Timberwood Intermediate
School in Humble ISD, TX. Coach Bussey has been
married to his wife Rachelle for 13 years, who
also is a teacher at Deer Park High School.
They have 3 beautiful daughters: Brooke
age 9, Blaire age 6, and Brittni age 4. In
his spare time Coach Bussey greatly enjoys
playing golf and hunting. |

Alan Byars --
Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Ends
Coach Byars is
beginning his 2nd year at Sam Rayburn High School and his 19th year in
coaching overall. Prior to coming to Sam Rayburn Coach Byars has
coached at Deer Park, Clear Brook, and Kempner High Schools as well as
Highlands Middle School. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree from
Lamar University and a Master of Science Degree from The University of
Houston-Clear Lake. Alan and his wife Nancy have two daughters,
Kayla and Alaina. |

Steve Matejka --
Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Tackles
Coach Matejka, a
graduate of Deer Park High School, played for and received a Bachelor of
Science degree in Kinesiology from The University of Houston. He
is beginning his 9th year of coaching and his 3rd year at Sam Rayburn.
Matejka has previously coached at Deer Park and South Houston High
Schools before coming to Sam Rayburn. He and his wife Laura have
two children, Jake and Maci. |

Jimmy Hamon
-- Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks
Coach
Hamon is a graduate of Sam Rayburn High School and Texas A&M University
- Corpus Christi. He will be entering his 6th year at Sam Rayburn
High School where he also teaches calculus. His wife, Layna, also
teaches in Pasadena ISD. They are proud parents of their one and a
half year old son Hunter. |

Joey Grochett
-- Special Teams Coordinator & Receivers
Grochett is a Texas A&M University graduate. He has a Bachelors Degree in
History and Physical Education. Coach Grochett is beginning his 14th
year in coaching and his 10th year at Sam Rayburn. Coach Grochett
also serves as the Head Baseball Coach at Sam Rayburn. He is the
proud parent of a two year old son, Cameron. |

B. J. Stewart
-- Strength & Conditioning Coordinator/Offensive Line
Coach Stewart, a
graduate of Colmesneil High School,
played for
and
received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology from Stephen F.
Austin University.
Stewart served
as
Assistant Strength & Conditioning
Coach at SFA before coming to Sam Rayburn. Stewart is beginning
his 4th year at Sam Rayburn. He and his
wife Jennifer have been married for 8 years. Jennifer is also a
teacher at Sam Rayburn.
They have one
son
named Ben and a new baby girl named Dru.

Frankie Saldana --
Video Coordinator/Corner Backs
Coach Saldana begins his
4th year at Sam Rayburn High School. He received his Bachelors
of Science Degree from Texas A&M University
- Kingsville. His wife of ten years, Veronica, is an
Assistant Principal in Pasadena ISD.

Steve Cloud --
Linebackers
Coach
Cloud played football for the University of Houston and graduated with a
degree in PE/Health. Coach Cloud is beginning his 18th year at Sam
Rayburn High School. He has also coached at Klein HS, Austin
Lanier HS, and Austin Crockett HS. He and his wife Ann have been
happily married for 39 years. |

Al Campo Jr. --
Running Backs
Coach Campo, a
graduate of Sam Rayburn High School, received a Bachelor of Science
Degree in History/Kinesiology from the University of Houston.
He and his wife Shanen (also a teacher at Sam Rayburn) have four
children: Ashlynn age 11, Caitlyn age 9, Courtney age 20, and
Colton age 18. Coach Campo is beginning his 3rd year at Sam
Rayburn. |

Eric Miley -- Head
Freshman Coach
Coach Miley is a
graduate of Stephen F. Austin University. Coach Miley has been
coaching baseball at Sam Rayburn for the past 6 years, and this is his
3rd year coaching football. Coach Miley has a 10 year old daughter
named Madison and a 8 year old son named Parker. |

Drew Thorn --Safeties
Coach Thorn has been coaching and teaching for 8 years. Coach
Thorn was born in Kerrville, TX and graduated from Tivy High School
where he played football, basketball, and ran track. Coach Thorn
received his Bachelors Degree from West Texas A&M, where he also played
football for the Buffalos. Coach went on to receive his Masters
Degree from Sul Ross State University. Coach Thorn began his
coaching career at Medina Valley High School in Castroville, TX.
After that he coached at Muleshoe HS where he was privileged to be part
of the State Championship Team in 2008.
Tom McCullough
-- Assistant Offensive Line
Coach McCullough
has been teaching and coaching for 15 years. Coach McCullough is a
graduate of Stephen F. Austin Unviersity where he received a Bachelors
Degree as well as a Masters Degree. Coach McCullough is beginning
his first year at Sam Rayburn HS. Coach and his wife Marin have a
son named Fred who attends school in Cy-Fair ISD.
Jacob Benavides
-- Assistant Wide Receivers
Coach Benavides is
a graduate of the University of Houston. Coach is beginning his
2nd year as a teacher and coach at Sam Rayburn HS. Coach Benavides
also coaches baseball. Coach is engaged to his fiancé Sara. |
