Art I~is a general art exploratory course which offers opportunities for students to work in drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, and graphic design. Students will also study about artists and their art works.
Drawing II, III, IV~are art courses which will focus on drawing ideas and techniques as well as the logical extension of drawing into other two and three-dimensional art content. Drawing media that might be explored through these courses are pencil, prismacolor, charcoal, pastels, ink, watercolor, and acrylics. (Prerequisite: Art I)
Painting II, III, IV~are art courses which emphasize painting materials, techniques, and the study of artists who have utilized painting to express their ideas. Painting techniques which incorporate both two and three dimensional work will be explored. Some media that might be explored include watercolor, tempera, acrylics, mixed media, and oil. (Prerequisite: Art I)
Printmaking II, III, IV~are art courses that offer a wide range of printmaking processes from monoprints, to silk-screening and embossing. Students may produce artworks such as stationary, greeting cards, and t-shirts. (Prerequisite: Art I)
Sculpture II, III, IV~are art courses that focus on three-dimensional art processes. Students will learn about and use different types of media producing sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, and fibers. Sculpture media that may be introduced are clay, paper, wood, wire, plastics, and metal. (Prerequisite: Art I)
Photography II, III, IV~offers students a knowledge of cameras, photographic and film processing techniques. Students will be involved in both classroom and lab activities. Students will have to furnish thier own 35mm camara, film, and printing supplies. (Prerequisite: Art I)
Pre-AP and AP Studio Art ~is designed for the studentwho is seriously interested in the study of art. Artwork production is mostly independent in the area of the student's interest. Students will present a portfolio of selected works they have done during the course for review by the College Board. (Prerequisite: Art I)
