NO. 2                     CITY OF HOUSTON ESSAY CONTEST - $300-$2,000 scholarship based on participants writing an essay about making a difference as an employee of the Houston Municipal government.  Deadline: 03-27-05

NO. 4                     LOTUS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP – offers a scholarship opportunity for a senior living in either the Lotus Squares Apartment or the Garner Villa Apartments.  Deadline:  01-21-05   

NO. 5                     GEORGE & MARY HAMMAN FOUNDATION -$12,000 scholarship based on financial need and academic achievement.  Must have SAT or ACT results and parent’s most recent tax return.  Deadline:  02-18-05

NO. 6                     SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP – opportunities range from $1,000-$10,000 in scholarship monies.  Criteria:  planning to enroll in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), be a good citizen of the U S, minimum 4.0 GPA and SAT/ACT scores required.  Deadline:  11-29-04

NO. 7                     HORATIO ALGER ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP - $10,000 scholarship opportunity for seniors planning to attend college in the fall of 2005, have a strong commitment to pursue a bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution, demonstrate financial need, involvement in co-curricular and community activities, demonstrate academic achievement (minimum 2.0 GPA) and must be a U S citizen.  Deadline: 09-29-04

NO. 17                   UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS-DALLAS’ MCDERMOTT SCHOLARSHIP – offers a scholarship opportunity if you plan to attend UTD and have the following criteria:  1400 SAT and/or 32 ACT score or higher, near the top of your class, long community service record, have a broad & eclectic interest in science, literature and the arts.  Deadline:  11-01-04

NO. 18                   GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARSHIP –has arrived and offers a scholarship opportunity for American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic Americans with a 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale, displays leadership through community service and meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria.  Deadline:  01/07/05. 

NO. 19                   TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY’S FOUNDATION EXCELLENCE AWARD SCHOLARSHIP –is available for students planning to attend A & M next fall.  This is an $8,000 scholarship opportunity.                                Deadline:  02-09-05

NO. 20                   LAMAR UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP is an opportunity available to those attending Lamar University.         Amounts range from $500 to $15,000 based on academics and/or leadership.  Deadline:  01/24/05

NO. 21                   TOYOTA COMMUNITY SCHOLARS PROGRAM offers an opportunity for one Rayburn senior.  Criteria:  outstanding academic record, be an effective leader, and documented service within and outside the school setting.   Deadline: 11-12-04

NO. 22                   SAM HOUSTON STATE UNIVERSITY’S ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP & HONORS PROGRAM offers several academic scholarships.  Criteria:  1200 SAT or 27 ACT composite score; must be in the upper 20% of the class and must have been accepted to Sam Houston State University.                 Deadline:  01-26-05

NO. 23                   AMERICAN INDIAN EDUCATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP – offers a $3,000 scholarship opportunity for those with the following criteria:  must be Native American or Alaska Native descent; planning to attend an accredited 2 or 4 year college/university or technical/vocational school as a full-time student; and have an ACT score of 14 or above.  Deadline:  04-26-04

NO. 24                   HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND – offers scholarship opportunities from $1,000-$2,500.  Criteria:  Must be of Hispanic heritage, a U. S. citizen or legal permanent resident, must have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and planning to attend an accredited college/university in the U.S., Puerto Rico or the virgin Islands in the fall of 2005.  Deadline:  12-08-04

NO. 25                   COMMIT FOR LIFE SCHOLARSHIP - $1,000 opportunity is open but wider for those pursing education in health care and/or the sciences or marketing and/or communications.  Deadline: 11-08-04

NO. 26                   AWARD OF EXCELLENE ASTHMA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM – an opportunity for $100-$1,000 in scholarship monies for seniors with documented asthma who have achieved excellence in a wide variety of areas including academics, extra curricular activities and community service.  Deadline:  01-04-05

NO. 27                   AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP  - scholarship opportunities for $10,000-$15,000.  Criteria:  U. S. citizen, planning to attend a 2or 4 year college in the fall of 2005, demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in an activity in school, the community or the workplace, and be recommended by an unrelated adult professional who can attest to student’s achievement.                  Deadline: 12-10-04

NO. 28                   ST. EDWARDS UNIVERSITY- offers a guaranteed $30,000 award to Fall 2005 freshman applicants in the top 20% of their class who have at least a 1200 SAT or 27 ACT score.  Apply online www.stedwards.edu/admssns/apply   Deadline:  02-01-05

NO. 29                   The EVELYN KEEDY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - is a scholarship opportunity offered through the Art Institute for a worthy high school senior who has enrolled in at one of the 28 eligible Art Institutes’ locations.  Deadline:  05-01-05

NO. 30                   GULF COAST SECTION OF SOCIETY OF PETROLEUM ENGINEERS AND HOUSTON SPE AUXILIARY - offers a scholarship opportunity for students planning to enter the petroleum engineering & related fields of study in college.  Criteria:  interest in petroleum industry, minimum SAT score of 1100, and a 3.0 or higher GPA.  Deadline: 02/09/05

NO. 31                   The MINNIE PEARL SCHOLARSHIP is available through the EAR Foundation.  Criteria:  current high           school senior with at least a 3.0 GPA; planning to attend a junior college, 4 year college/university, or Technical school; have significant (severe to profound) bilateral hearing loss; be a mainstreamed hearing-impaired student; and must be a U S citizen.  Deadline:  02-10-05

NO. 32                   NATIONAL FEDERATION OF INDEPENDENT BUSINESS (NFIB)- offers an opportunity for a $1,000 scholarship.  Criteria:  planning to attend a 2 or 4-year college, must be nominated by a member of the NFIB.   Deadline:  03-14-05

NO. 33                   NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR COOPERATIVE EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP- offers scholarship opportunities with the following criteria:  minimum GPA of 3.5 and complete their scholarship form.   DEADLINE:  02-10-05

NO. 34                   BURGER KING – has a $1,000 scholarship opportunity for those of you employed and working at least 15 hours/week for at least 40 weeks/year.  You must have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.  Only one application will be submitted.  Deadline:  12-01-04.

N0. 35                    . (TSPE) TEXAS ENGINEERING FOUNDATION-5/$500 scholarships.  Criteria: 3.0 GPA, 600 in Math and 550 in verbal on SAT or 25 in English on the ACT.  Deadline:  01-07-05

NO. 38                   RANDOLPH-MACON COLLEGE PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM-$5,000-$15,000 scholarship money.  Criteria:  1100 SAT score and must be in top 25% of your class.  Deadline: 02-01-05

NO. 39                   THE HAYS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP-Hendrix College requires 3.6+GPA, 32 ACT or 1410 SAT scores.  Deadline:  11-15-05
