Graduation Plans

General Plan (22 credits) is for those students whose goals include either no college work, vocational training, or an college associate of arts degree.

Recommended Plan (24 credits) is for those students whose goals include a professional degree, including a four-year bachelor of arts degree.

In addition to the above graduation plans, there is the  Advanced Achievement Program.

       This graduation plan requires that the student complete the 24-credit Recommended Plan and receive any combination of FOUR measure listed below. These credits must reflect college* or professional level work which will be judged by an external review process.  The advanced measure include the following:

      I. Original research/project (not to be counted for more than two of the four advanced measures) that is…

          ...judged by a panel of professionals in the field that is the focus of the project; or

          ...conducted under the direction of mentor(s) and reported to an appropriate audience; and

         ...related to the required curriculum set forth in section 74.13 of the 19 TAC Chapter 74 pertaining to the state curriculum requirements.

      II.  Test data where a student receives…

          …a score of three or above on the College Board Advance Placement Examination; or

          …a score of four or above on the International Baccalaureate Examination; or

          …a score on the PSAT that qualifies a student for recognition as

              - a Commended Scholar or higher by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC)

              - a part of the National Hispanic Scholar Program of The College Corporation

              - a part of the National Achievement Scholarship Program for Outstanding Negro Students of the NMSC.

        * Academic college courses with a grade point of 3.0 or higher, using the college's grading scale.  Eligible college courses include tech-prep programs.
