The Administrative Staff of the PISD Police Department recognized the need to improve lines of communication with our clientele and with our citizens.  This need is best accomplished by improving the awareness of our clientele and citizens of the tasks that we perform and the manner in which these tasks are satisfactorily accomplished.

Seeking to improve citizen awareness, a program to allow civilians to ride-along with Officers of the P.I.S.D. was approved and the policy was issued as General Order # 39, on January 02, 1996.
