In March, 1996, a Police Trading Card Program was initiated in the PISD Police Department by Officer Cory Scott. This program is similar to baseball cards, except that the photographs and messages are from Police Officers and the program has proved to be very successful across the Nation.
Sponsorship was solicited from area merchants to fund the program. Each sponsor provided $150.00 to purchase 2,000 individual picture cards which carried the advertisement of the sponsor. With minimal assistance from other officers, Officer Scott secured funding, prepared pictures with messages, and completed the project. Since the completion of our program, Officer Scott has assisted other agencies in beginning the process.
The cards were prepared and printed by SPECIALTY CARDS, 1-800-922-2733, and the photos by CAMERA'S ETC., Pasadena. We are most appreciative of the merchants who sponsored and supported this project. Their names and the name of the Officer they sponsored are as follows:
