In the Program:

  • You can get to work with former teachers; or other teachers in the Pasadena Independent School District.
  • Develop lesson plans with their field site teachers.
  • Observe different styles of teaching.
  • Do one on one teaching with a student who struggles in a class and teach the whole class.
  • Participate in several activities and lessons such as : Read-a-thons, Community Service, CPR Training, Various Fundraisers, Plus many, many more.

What you can Earn:

In the Ready, Set, Teach! Program it is possible for students to earn their letter Jackets, and Silver Cord to wear to graduation and be recognized.

Requirements for Letter Jackets:

  • Must have followed the career track for Hospitality or Ready, Set, Teach! with a minimum of 3 semesters.
  • Must maintain at least an 85 in each career track course.
  • Must have a total of 65 documented community service hours.

Requirements for silver Cord:

  • Must have followed the Education Career pathways, Preparation for Parenting, Child Development, and Ready, Set, Teach!
  • Must have 50 hours of documented community service hours with campus.
  • Must have an over all yearly average of 90.
  • Must have attended a Leadership Meet. Must have attended the Ready, Set, Teach! Annual Read-a-thon.

Ready, Set, Teach! I is equivalent to a college course if you are planning to major in Child Development. It allows you to earn up to 9 college credits. Ready, Set, Teach! II allows you to be eligible for 12 hours at selected colleges.

 

 

 

Requirements for Ready, Set, Teach!
  • It recommended to take Preparation for Parenting and Child Development to know both the teacher and the course.
  • If you have not taken those classes, your application must be approved by the teacher of that course.
  • You must submit an application including a grade check and teacher and administration evaluation in the spring.
  • You must have 2 free periods in your schedule.
