PMHS Gear Up Goes to San Jacinto Culinary Arts School

On Friday, March 27, thirty four PMHS 9th grade students had the opportunity to visit the Culinary Arts School at San Jacinto College.  ?Not only did the students get to meet Chef Pringle and learn all about the different areas in the field of Culinary Arts, but they actually got first hand experience by preparing the lunch in Chef Pringle?s kitchen?, stated Ms. Laurie Etnyre.  Ms. Etnyre is the GEAR UP Campus Coordinator at Pasadena Memorial High School.  The students prepared the meal from start to finish.  If the students weren?t working in the kitchen preparing the food they

were in the dinning room learning how to set up. ?San Jacinto College is a fantastic resource for our community and many of our students start off at San Jacinto College?.  Students also had the opportunity to  listen to the lead counselor at San Jacinto College on the registration process.

The students prepared  Chicken Parmesan on Linguini, Brochette with olive, roasted bell pepper, and mushrooms, yellow squash, Italian Bread, and Strawberry Cream for dessert.

Many of the students who were on the field trip are interested in the culinary field
