From the Library of Congress' American Memory site, this searchable database includes the Journals of the Continental
Congress, American State Papers, U.S. Serial Set (incomplete), and the
journals and debates of Congress. Special features include a timeline of U.S.
history as seen through the documentary record, Indian land sessions, the
Journal of the Congress of the Confederate States of America, and more.

Jensen is a scholar with many books and articles; he was
professor of history for over 35 years at several schools, including the
University of Illinois, Harvard, Michigan, West Point, and Moscow State
University. His recent books (coauthored) include The Civil War on the
Web (2nd edition 2003), Trans-Pacific Relations : America, Europe,
and Asia in the Twentieth Century (2003), World War II on the Web
(2002) and Americans at War: Society, Culture, and the Homefront
(2005).

The American Folklife Center at the Library
of Congress collects and preserves audio- and video-taped oral histories,
along with documentary materials such as letters, diaries, maps,
photographs, and home movies of America's war veterans and those who served
in support of them. This site is still growing, but it is worth
visiting.
