1.     Your team will create a NEWS BROADCAST live from Ancient Rome.  It is the Ides of March (March 15) in the year 44 B.C. and Julius Caesar has just been murdered.  In teams of 3-4, each member chooses 2 topics to research and perform (must include Anchor role in groups of 3).  The assassination of Julius Caesar is the Breaking News.

2.     Sources: Each team member must submit 3 Internet and 2 printed sources on separate Citation sheets, due on the day of your performance.

3.     Script:  A complete script of the broadcast must be submitted before your performance, but you may use note cards for the broadcast. The script should indicate character names, dialogue, and action (in parenthesis). You will be graded on authentic facts included in your broadcast.  You may use your class notes and the textbook (may cite as a source) along with your research. You must include a minimum of 3 authentic facts per topic in the script and news broadcast.  All information should be appropriate for the time period, but you may use creative application in the performance.

4.     Props/Costumes:  You may include props and costumes in your broadcast, which will count as extra credit.

5.     Performance: All students must participate in the news broadcast.  Your performance should be a minimum of 4 minutes and a maximum of 8 minutes.  You will be stopped at 8 minutes even if you have not completed the broadcast and your grade will reflect what was left out, so plan the time.

SCHEDULE:         Library research will be on Monday, Nov. 30 and Tuesday, Dec. 1.

Class time to work on broadcasts will be on Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Performances will be on Monday, Dec. 7 and Tuesday, Dec.8.

RUBRIC:           Points possible: Script (25 team), Authentic facts (30 individual – 3 facts @ 10 points each), Sources (10 individual – 2 per source), Performance prepared and clearly presented (30 individual), Creativity (5 team), Props/Costumes (EC 1-5)
