SNOWMAN PROJECT – EOY 2009        Library (depending on class period) May ____, ____, ____

Go to http://www.pasadenaisd.org/pmhs/library and click on Research Classes (left menu); scroll to  “Locklear”.

Using the template of the "snowman," create a poster of a man or woman who lived anytime from 1500 to modern day who impacted the world in some way.  The person may be American or from any nation, but should have influenced or impacted more than just people from their own country or society.  This would include politicians, military leaders, athletes, scientists, physicians, artists, musicians, fine arts performers, spiritual leaders, rulers, inventors, social reformers, innovators in finance or technology, explorers, educators, celebrities, etc.  These personalities, especially current athletes and celebrities, need to have “lived enough” for there to be evidence of their true, perhaps lasting impact on more than just a brief time here in America. You must receive approval for your person before beginning research. The project will count as a project grade and 1/3 of your final exam grade.

1.    Snowman Template:  "Dressing” the person may be drawn and colored in 1D, cut and paste using various materials in 2D or constructed in 3D. You may NOT use notebook paper.  The final product (or 3D base) should be no larger than 11x14 inches.  All twelve (12) information categories must be addressed and posted on the front of your visual in some form.  Please be neat and print or type so that I can read it clearly.

2.    You may outline with markers, but please do not color with markers. There must be color on your poster.

3.    You should “dress” your person in the type of clothing they would wear depending on their profession or personal style and/or where they are from and the era in which they lived.  Be creative!!!

4.    On the back of the poster, write your name and period.  All citation information for your sources should be written on or attached to the back/bottom of your project.  You must have a minimum of two (2) printed sources and three (3) credible electronic sources listed (of course, you can list more). You must include all necessary citation information in the proper form.  See Mrs. Baker or Mr. Perez in the library for correct citation examples and assistance.

5.    PROJECT IS DUE ON Friday, May 15 for 6th period and Monday, May 18 for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 7th periods.  The project is expected to be turned in on your due date whether you are present in class or not.  Prepare for this.  If you have an issue, discuss it with me ASAP before the due date!

I must receive an explanation either by e-mail to slocklear@pasadenaisd.org or a phone call to 713-740-0390 x53212 on your due date by 2:30 PM. I will only consider accepting a project after that date and time with a letter of explanation from you and a statement from your parent (this is not a guarantee of acceptance).  If you are not exempt from the final exam and you receive a zero for the project, the maximum grade you can make on the final exam is a 66 (2/3).
