World Issues: Pros and Cons

Junior English - Fall, 2007


The assignment

Daily requirements:

 v Students will research an issue of world importance.  All topics are controversial issues containing

clear pros and cons

v Students must keep a bibliography for all the sources used in the final product. Students will be required to have at least four sources of information.

v Students are required to submit a sheet of library notes for a daily grade. The notes must reflect whether the source was pro or con and the notes must include the students own interpretation of the source and the validity of the argument.

The subscription databases shown on the Research Resources page provide your electronic or "Internet" resources for your project.  Reference books will be found on your class reserve cart.


Evaluating Information

Be sure to utilize credible and reliable sources  -- articles that are self-published or that rely on personal opinion, publications that are slanted in favor of one side, or sites that are strongly commercial will not meet criteria required.  Resources found on the Research Resources page have authority and can be considered credible and reliable
