             On your way to Rio to go hunting, you fell overboard and ended up on “Ship Trap Island.”  After surviving your “hunt,” you decided to take the “Vacation of a Lifetime.”  You will pick one country in the world to visit.  You will research your country to find all the information you will need to make your trip fun and exciting. 

Your research must come from at least 4 different resources.  You will need to use a minimum of 2 databases, 1 print resource (book or reference book), and Travelocity (for your travel info. Only).  Each resource must be cited on the citation page.

 Also, you may want to send some of your pictures and maps to your Gaggle account.  Your Gaggle account username is your first initial last initial and your ID number without the 0.

 First, you will need to know some basic facts about your country:

Second, you will need to familiarize yourself with the country.  You will need to study a map to do this. 

________   Map:  You must include a map of your country.  Your map must include the following… 

  1. Title (Name of Country)

  2. Orientation (Compass Rose)

  3. Legend with at least 5 landforms (mountains, rivers, lakes, capital city, other major cities)

  4. Bordering countries/bodies of water labeled.

 

Third, you will need to figure out how to get to your initial destination.  You will use Travelocity for this section – and only this section.

Fourth, you will need to plan out your 10 days of vacation.  What major sites you will see, which cities you will visit, etc.

 Next, you will need to try the different delicacies native to your country.  You will need to jot down some of the things that you really enjoyed so you can tell your friends at home all about them.

 Menu: Provide a name for the item, a description of each item, its cost (you create the cost) in the local currency, and the equivalent cost in US Dollars.

 Next, you will need to know a few words in the native language to help you communicate and to be polite.

Next, you will likely want to send a post card home to let your friends and family know how much fun you are having on your trip.

Post Card

 Post Card must include a picture of a place that you have visited on your “trip.”  The back must include a short note to your parents describing your trip.  The post card should be appropriately addressed.

Finally, you will need to put all of your pictures into a scrapbook or photo album of some sort so that you will have a permanent reminder of your trip.

 Collage or Illustration 

Collage must include a minimum of 5 pictures with captions explaining where / of what the picture was taken.

Illustration must be hand drawn, minimum or 8X10, and include a caption about the picture.  Hand drawn illustrations are only to be completed by artistically talented students!!  Extra Credit will be given for good quality illustrations.
