Armed Drill Teams
The Drill Teams are cadets from the JROTC unit who specialize in
the perfectionism of Drill (March). To be a member of the teams you must be in the
JROTC. During
the beginning of the year all the cadets are taught the basic drill movements. As soon as they
have mastered them they are ready to begin to learn basic movement with the rifle. The rifles
used for practice are U. S. M-14's, which are no longer operational for combat, but nevertheless
these rifles are very real. After the cadets are ready they are taught the very
first spinning rifle movement, "the Fan". The rest of the movements are taught to them
according to each individuals progress.
For both Male and Female Drill Teams, there is practice after
school every day. If you would like to become a member of the JROTC Drill Teams you can ask
the Male Drill Team Commander: c/1st Lt. Diaz, Moises and the Female Drill Team
Commander: C/1st Lt. Garcia, Patricia.
Party
Three years ago, the Female Drill Team had a small celebration after a well deserved victory
on the United Way Fund Raiser. The deal was that the Drill Platoon with the most money collected
would get to go to a restaurant with their meal paid. The results ended in favor of the Females.
These are some pictures from their party.
