Office Hours—Procedures —Responsibility

Office Hours

·        The textbook room is located in room 1217.

·        Normal office hours are from 6:30 am to 7:15 am. Students may also come during homeroom with a pass.

·        Mr. Vestal will be in the cafeteria every Tuesday during all lunches to take care of Not Clears.

Procedures

·        Students will be issued books all at once through their English classes at the beginning of the year. Students will need to come during morning office hours to acquire books after that point.

·        Student will need their ID Badge in order to be issued books.

·        Books are directly issued to students. Students are responsible for returning books before the end of the school year or semester long course.

Student Responsibility

·        Entering his/her name inside the front cover of the textbook.

·        Keeping textbooks covered.

·        Reimbursing the school for any damage to and/or loss of textbooks issued to the student. Any misuse of the textbooks due to carelessness or neglect may be considered cause to charge the student a fine for that textbook.

·        Returning all textbooks at years-end, semester long class, or withdrawing from school.

3.     Each student, or the student’s parent or guardian, is responsible for each textbook not returned by the student. A student who fails to return all textbooks forfeits the right to free textbooks until each textbook issued but not returned is paid for by the student, parent, or guardian. (§ 31.104. D) TEC

**** Failure to return textbooks, school property, or to pay school fines and fees will result in a status of Not Clear. Student may be denied extracurricular activities such as prom or pep rally.   Student may also be denied documents or privileges such as Verification of Enrollments (VOE) or a parking permit. Lastly, legal action or disciplinary action may be taken in accordance with the student hand book.

Teacher Responsibility

·        Ensuring that all textbooks are covered at all times.

·        Keeping accurate records of all textbooks received and issued to the student.

·        Conducting periodic textbook inspections periodically or when requested.

·        Ensuring the student’s name is written on the “issued” page of the textbook.

·        Notifying the textbook coordinator when first becoming aware that an assigned textbook has been lost or damaged.

·        Returning all surplus textbooks to the bookroom. Surplus textbooks are defined as any extra textbooks in the classroom beyond a class set of 35. Students should only return books to the teacher if part of a class set. All other textbooks shall be returned to the textbook coordinator.

·        Checking the condition of textbooks as the student turns them in and verifying that book returned was the book issued to the student.
