Revised 2006-2007 Pasadena High School Dress Code

Shirts shall be either a collared “polo style” or collared “oxford style” shirt free of designs, appropriately sized with sleeves.  Shirts shall be either solid colors of blue, white, and green.  Turtlenecks and T-shirts may be worn underneath the standardized shirt and shall be either solid colors of blue, white, green, black, or grey free of designs and appropriately sized.  Shirts must remain tucked in at all times.  Shirts may have an appropriate manufacturer logo not to exceed two inches.

Pants shall be either solid navy or solid khaki colored slacks, solid khaki or solid blue jeans free of design and hemmed.

Pants/Jeans must meet the following criteria:

         All pants/jeans must be appropriately sized, fitted and worn at the waist.  No hip huggers are allowed.

         All pants/jeans must be fitted in the crotch and legs, not baggy or excessively tight.  Pants/jeans with hammer loops or of a cargo style are not permitted.

         All pants/jeans must be free of slits.

         All pants/jeans must be one continuous solid color free of manufactured fading or bleaching.

         Pants must be one continuous solid color khaki or navy.  Jeans must be one continuous solid color blue or khaki.

         Pants/jeans must be free of holes or tears.

         All pants/ jeans must be free hanging, no rubber bands or rolled tight to the ankles.

Skirts and/or Jumpers shall be either solid navy or solid khaki colored skirts and/or jumpers or solid khaki or solid blue denim skirts and/or jumpers free of design and hemmed.  Skirts and/or jumpers must meet the following additional criteria:

         All skirts/jumpers must be appropriately sized, not baggy or excessively tight.

         All skirts must be fitted and worn at the waist.  No hip hugger skirts are allowed.

         Manufacturer slits on jumpers/skirts can come no higher than 2 inches above the kneecap.

         All skirts/jumpers must be free of manufactured fading or bleaching.

         All skirts/jumpers must be free of holes and tears.

Shorts/Skorts
        Secondary Schools Grades 6-12

No shorts/skorts will be allowed. 

Belts are required for garments made with belt loops in grades 3 through 12.

Spirit Shirts   sponsored by campus organizations or teams and approved by the Principal may be worn.

Shoes

Students must wear shoes with backs that are appropriate for school.  (Students participating in physical education activities must have appropriate shoes.)  Skate shoes are not permitted Shoes must be fastened at all times.

Sweaters/Sweat Shirts/Light Jackets may be worn over the “polo style” or “oxford style” standardized dress shirt.  The collar of the standardized shirt must be visible at all times.  Sweaters/sweat shirts/light jackets shall be solid colors of blue, white, green, black, or grey free of designs and appropriately sized.  A small, appropriate manufacturer logo not to exceed two inches is permissible on sweaters, sweatshirts and light jackets.  Campus letter jackets or light jackets with an approved campus-specific logo are permissible.

Hooded jackets and sweatshirts are allowed, but hoods must be removed when entering any building.

Coats

Secondary Schools Grades 6-12

Coats may be worn to a secondary campus provided they are placed in the student’s locker or designated storage area upon arrival and not removed until the conclusion of the school day.

Backpacks must be clear, transparent or mesh.

ID’s

All ID’s must be worn around the neck on a green campus issued break away lanyard.  The campus ID should be free of any marks or stickers.  One ID will be issued free of charge to each student.  If the ID is lost or defaced, the student will be charged $5.00 for a replacement.  If the campus issued lanyard is lost, the student will be charged $1.00 for a replacement.

Shaving

Males may not wear mustaches or beards and must be cleanly shaven.  Sideburns must not extend below the bottom of the ear and may not flare at the bottom.

Earrings/ Bodypiercings

Males are not permitted to wear earrings of any type.  Students are not permitted to wear other non-traditional rings (nose, lip, etc.).  Clips, posts, and/ or other devices designed to prevent the piercing area from closing are not permitted.

Tattoos

All tattoos must be covered while on campus or at any school related event.

All other rules and regulations as defined in the Student Code of Conduct on pages 4and 5, regarding dress and grooming shall apply.

 

*The principal and assistant principal(s) shall be authorized to appraise any fashion, fad, hair, jewelry or article of clothing deemed inappropriate for school wear or disruptive to the education process or safety of the campus.
