Clinic

Introduction:
High school clinics provide treatment or first aid for accidents and emergencies occurring during school hours. Vision, hearing and scoliosis assessments are completed on all 9th graders and all new students new to the district, also others at student's or teacher's request. Immunizations are kept updated on all students.

Hours: (7:00 am to 2:00 pm)

Students clear immunizations, communicable disease exclusions and emergency forms before school, & after school. Permission to take medicine during school hours require a parent's and physicians consent on file with nurse. Medication should be checked into the clinic. Students may carry an inhaler and use as needed with doctor's note on file with parental note in clinic on file. ( Special circumstances only) and on their person, ask them to show you a pink index card.

Permits:

Admits ( Health referral/log B 3-3) are needed for clinic admission except in emergency situations. Students with chronic diseases will have a note with them ( Pink index card) with they've been instructed to use in emergencies. These notes serve as emergency admits to show teachers and the clinic staff.

Admits are not needed before school or after school, but are required during lunch periods and class periods.

Going Home Procedures:

Students will be sent home from the clinic if their temperature is elevated, if they are vomiting, have diarrhea, appear contagious, or if in the nurse's judgment, they are too ill to be in school. No student will be sent home without parental designee permission. New policy - No student may call home due to illness without going to the nurse or they will be sent to the assistant principle for discipline. (New policy in handbook 00-01)

Resources:

Health pamphlets and referral manual are available. Please send students whose behavior appears inappropriate to the clinic for evaluation and appreciated so very much. Please feel free to come to our clinic any time to discuss problems or concerns.

Alert:

It is state law punishable by fine if suspected child abuse is not reported. Forms are kept in the clinic for CPS report. A file or reported cases is also kept in the clinic facilitate CPS workers in assisting victims. (Phone 1-800-252-5400)
