 Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Associate’s degree, or
• Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (minimum 48 hours or more), or
• Pass district’s Paraprofessional’s Assessment of Competencies

Requirements and Skills:

• Ability to work with special needs students (All levels: Elementary, Intermediate, High School)
• Restrain disruptive students
• Work in a stressful situation and maintain confidentiality issues
• Assist teacher in routine classroom management duties
• Assist teacher in the loading and unloading of the school bus
• Assist teacher with individual student’s personal hygiene needs
• Lift, move, and position students in a variety of settings
• Feed or assist students in feeding themselves
