Qualifications:

• High school Graduate or GED

                Certification in No Child Left Behind –or- 48 or more college hours

                Meet and satisfy all employment requirements of Pasadena ISD

• Two years of experience working with children preferred, but not required
• Current Interpreter Level I or Basic Certification by the Registry of Interpreters or the Texas Commission for the Deaf

Requirements:

• Serve as sign interpreter in the classes assigned
• Interpret lectures and any classroom interaction which occurs during class period
• Reverse interpret for students during class discussion and for students to ask question for clarification
• Interpret for students between classes, in assemblies, in meeting, and during lunch as needed
• Inform the responsible teacher and interpreter coordinator of any problems that may occur in the classroom and after-school interpreting assignments
• Work with the general education and special education teachers as needed in order to be better prepared for classroom lectures and tests
• Help monitor student activities
• Assist students with physical needs and personal care including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene
• Assist teachers or special education staff between interpreting assignments working with students as needed or performing clerical duties
