General Information about the ACCELERATED READER PROGRAM
at Parks Elementary School
Library books for which we have A.R. tests have colored spine dots to indicate reading level categories. A label inside the front cover of an A.R. book shows the reading level and point value for the book and test. We have all the A.R. tests which are available through the publisher of A.R. tests. For most of those which are in our students' reading levels, we have at least one copy of the corresponding book.
Some of our A.R. books and tests are available in English or Spanish only. Some of our A.R. books and tests are available in both English and Spanish. New A.R. tests and books are added to our collection each year.
Students read A.R. books at school and at home to earn as many points as they can. Students "spend" their A.R. points for various rewards such as campus sleepovers, skating parties, or the A.R. store where they can purchase miscellaneous prizes. A.R. books comprise approximately 60% of the entire circulation statistics.
