Schools:
Construction reaches home stretch
at four campuses
The construction of
the new San Jacinto and Southmore Intermediate schools, along with
Melillo and Shaw middle schools are continuing at a rapid pace.
District officials say the schools will be ready to welcome students
on the first day of school, Aug. 26.
San Jacinto is located on Red Bluff near Beltway
8 and the new Southmore is located near the intersection of Pasadena
Boulevard and Strawberry. Shaw Middle School
is located next door to what will soon be the former Southmore
Intermediate campus on East Houston. Melillo Middle School will be
located on Hughes Road in the South Belt area of the district.
Keller Middle School
Lonnie B. Keller Middle School will be housed in the current San
Jacinto Intermediate building when school starts in August. Several
renovations arel be taking place inside the school. San Jacinto students will be moving into their new
campus on Red Bluff at the beginning of school.
Kruse Elementary
Land has been cleared for the construction of the Kruse Elementary
replacement campus, located near the current campus on Main Street.
Opening of the school is eyed for 2009.
South Belt Elementary
The site for South Belt Elementary, located in the Riverstone Ranch
subdivision is in the initial phases of construction. The target
date for completion is the summer of 2009.

Richey
Elementary School
Although some exterior and
landscaping work is being completed at the front of the school,
students have moved in to the new Richey Elementary campus. Students
and teachers occupied the newer, larger building several weeks ago.
The new building is located next to the site of the former campus,
which was demolished.
Carter Lomax

Middle School
The school opened in January
2008 and houses students in fifth and sixth
grades from the Bondy Intermediate, Turner Elementary,
Teague Elementary, and Genoa Elementary. The school is named
after longtime Pasadena
ISD administrator and teacher Carter Lomax. The campus is
located on Almeda-Genoa Road near the intersection of
Beltway 8.
Earnesteen
Milstead Middle School
Named after longtime Pasadena ISD
principal and educator Earnesteen Milstead, this new fifth and sixth
grade campus opened to students in August 2007. The campus is
located on Gilpin, located just off of State Highway 3 and
Edgebook. |
