In an effort to provide students with the
encouragement and support to return to school, the Pasadena
Independent School District will be holding its “Walk for
Success” from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12.
Pasadena ISD administrators, faculty and
staff members will be visiting homes of high school students who
have not re-enrolled for the 2009-2010 school year. Each high
school will have teams of teachers and staff that will be
visiting the homes of these students that will be encouraging
them to return to school.
Through the initiative, students will be
re-enrolled in school as well as provided various campus and
district opportunities to prepare to pass the TAKS test for
students who may not have passed the exam. During the walk,
district personnel will also be calling students who have not
returned to school.
“Through these efforts, we are hoping to
reach all students who have not been accounted for at this
time,” said Troy McCarley, Pasadena ISD associate superintendent
for campus development. “Our goal is to ensure that all students
have the opportunities to succeed. This is one way where
campus and district personnel can come together to ensure that
all students are re-enrolled and successful.”
