The
school bells rung in the new school year and the opening of the
new South Belt Elementary School.
The new school is located in the Riverstone
Ranch subdivision in the South Belt area of the district. The
campus was built as one of the final projects of a bond program
approved by Pasadena ISD voters in 2004.
And the first day of classes on Aug. 25
were filled with anticipation and happiness.
“It was a moment we had all been waiting
for,” said Candy Howard, South Belt Elementary principal.
Classrooms are equipped with the newest
technology, including digital learning tools such as Promethean
Boards. Howard said the teachers wasted no time in putting the
technology to use.
Howard was hired as South Belt Elementary’s
principal in January. She had served as principal at Jensen
Elementary for the past 10 years.
“It’s a time of new beginnings and new
traditions,” she said. “I am looking forward to getting to know
all of our new students and their parents as we start the new
school year.”
