Travis McPhaul, formerly of Bondy Intermediate and currently a
Social Studies teacher at Carter Lomax Middle School, was recently named
a Horace Mann-Abraham Lincoln Fellow by the Horace Mann Educators
Corp. and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library.
The organizations awarded 50 fellowships to kindergarten through
12th grade educators. McPhaul and the 2007 class of fellows studied
the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln during a five-day institute
at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in
Springfield, Ill. this past summer.
The fellowship program is now accepting applications for 2008 for
any K-12 teachers nationwide. Applicants are judged on their
experience, letters of recommendation and essay question responses.
