For the second consecutive year, Sparks Elementary School was named to the Texas Business and Education Coalition's 2006 Just For The Kids Elementary School Honor Roll.

The award recognizes sustained academic excellence over a three-year period and recognizes the state's best performing public elementary and secondary schools. As part of the TBEC award criteria, schools that qualify for the award must be rated exemplary or recognized by the Texas Education Agency, have consistent improvement over the past three years in reading and math and have shown steady or improved overall performance over the past three years.

Sparks Elementary has been rated as a state recognized school by the Texas Education Agency for the past two years. The school was named an exemplary campus as a result of its test scores during the 2003-2004 school year.
