All Pasadena Eagle Escort exes are dusting off their boots for the Escorts’ 40th
anniversary performance, which will be held during halftime of the Pasadena
High vs. Sam Rayburn varsity football game at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10. The
revived routine will be “In the Mood” from the mid-70s.

All members from 1965 to present are encouraged to attend to prepare for
the performance. Another practice will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, which
will be held at Barfield from 12 p.m.-3 p.m. and will continue from 4
p.m.-6 p.m. on the field at Veterans Memorial Stadium following the game.

“This will be better than any ‘class reunion’ because ex-members will be
able to reunite with girls they were dancing members with for the three to
four years during the time they were here at Pasadena High School,” said
Patricia Armstrong-Cherry, the Escort director of 25 years and ’73-’77
dance member. “This is a great opportunity for friends to reconnect and
perform again on the same field that held wonderful memories for them in
their youth.”

Cherry said she is still in search of dance members from the past 40 years
to attend the game, dance if possible, or to at least attend the luncheon
and style show.

The fun doesn’t stop with the halftime performance. Beginning at 9 a.m.
Saturday, Nov. 11, an open house will be held at Pasadena High for all
reunion attendees. A style show will begin at 11 a.m. in the Teaching
Theatre followed by lunch. Former managers and active booster club parents
that would like to attend are also invited to the reunion.

The cost per person to attend is $30. Full participants will receive one
ticket to the Pasadena/Rayburn game ($5), a T-shirt depicting the
traditional uniforms ($15), a tour of the campus and the luncheon ($10).
For those not attending the game, the price will be $25. For those not
dancing and not purchasing a shirt, $15 can be deducted.

“The former directors and I would like to see as many former students come
back as possible,” Cherry said. “Each and every member was unique in
personality and all gave of themselves for the betterment of the group. I
would like for them to come back, relax and enjoy the show.”
