Barmores donate $25,000 to Education Foundation

Brothers Mike and Bill Barmore are proud of their Pasadena roots.

Both are alumni of Pasadena High School, Mike graduated in 1969 and Bill followed in 1973. They are president and vice president of Barmore Insurance Co., which was founded by their father, William C. Barmore in 1952. “Our roots run deep in Pasadena, and we have a deep appreciation for the school district and the community,” Mike said.

They also believe in giving back.

For the third consecutive year, the Barmores have donated $25,000 to the Pasadena ISD Education Foundation. The duo have made numerous financial contributions to the Education Foundation including two $25,000 donations during the last two years, with $5,000 of each donation designated for the annual McDonald’s Texas Invitational Basketball Tournament.

The foundation provides funds for educational programs and activities which either have not been funded or have been under-funded by the normal operating budget. Distributed to teachers who apply in the form of mini-grants, the funds are used to facilitate innovative teaching strategies, energize student achievement and skill development, recognize and encourage staff excellence and expand community involvement from individuals, businesses and civic organizations.

“Mike and Bill Barmore are both longtime supporters of this district,” said Pasadena ISD Superintendent Dr. Kirk Lewis. “We are most appreciative of their generosity and their support of our teachers and students.”
