The Pasadena Independent School District’s Board of Trustees approved the 2007-2008 school calendar at their regular meeting Tuesday night.

Under the calendar, the first day of school for students will be Aug. 28, 2007, with the exception of ninth grade, which will begin one day earlier on Aug. 27 as part of the Expectation Graduation program.

The later start and ending dates are required because this past spring, the State Legislature approved a law stating that school districts may not begin classes before August 27.

Key dates on the 2007-2008 school calendar are as follows:
First day of school for students - August 28, 2007 (Ninth graders will begin one day earlier on August 27 as part of the district’s Expectation Graduation program)
First day for teachers – August 21, 2007
Last day for students – June 5, 2008
Last day for teachers – June 6, 2008
