Some students may dream in the burnt orange of the University of
Texas, while the blood of others may run Texas A&M maroon or Red
Raider red. The hallowed halls of Rice University or the Ivy
League schools may even raise an eyebrow among future high
school graduates.
Pasadena ISD shares one simple and important message for high
school students – receiving a higher education doesn’t have to
be a dream, it can become a reality.
The district and the community will share that message during
events to celebrate “College Week,” Dec. 3-7. The district’s
College Night will be held at 7 p.m., Dec. 4 at Sam Rayburn High
School. Representatives from more than 70 major colleges and
universities will be in attendance to visit with students.
Many activities will be held on the campuses to commemorate the
week, including students and employees being able to wear
college shirts on Tuesday and Friday of that week. Teachers
will also be displaying memorabilia from their favorite colleges
and universities to promote higher education. Teachers will
speak to students in their classes about the value of attending
college and making plans for the future.
Many schools are also planning door decorating contests that
featured their favorite colleges or have college themes.
The community is rallying their support behind College Day as
many local companies and businesses will break out their college
banners and t-shirts to highlight the day-long event.
