View complete report - Click here (.pdf file, requires Adobe Acrobat Reader) Last month, the Houston Chronicle published a report issued by the Children At Risk organization which ranked area high schools on 13 different indicators. One of those indicators was the percentage of students earning the Recommended or Distinguished High School Diploma. Pasadena ISD schools were ranked no higher than 68 on the list of 97 Houston area high schools--primarily because of a data entry error made in the midst of the Chancery implementation. Pasadena ISD appealed to the organization to rerun the report using the accurate data after the data input error was discovered and they graciously agreed to do so. Pasadena ISD is especially appreciative of Children At Risk for being willing to work together. The results are back with good news. The list below shows the original rating and the new rating assigned to each of our high schools. Original Revised Rayburn 68 33 Dobie 71 43 Pasadena 85 60 South Houston 92 73 All Pasadena ISD schools are listed in either Tier Two or Tier Three. None remain in Tier Four. (The complete revised rating list is attached.) “While we are working to improve all of our schools, I am pleased that we were able to get a more accurate picture which reflects the hard work our staff and students demonstrate each day,” explains Kirk Lewis, Superintendent of Pasadena ISD. “I appreciate the efforts of the Children At Risk organization for their willingness to rerun the report.” |
