The Sam Rayburn High School Tex-Anns are
determined to find out who can dance in their “So You Say You Can
Dance” dance contest being held in the school’s auditorium at 4 p.m.
on April 2, 4 and 5.
The dance contest is open to anyone in the community ages 14-19.
Contestants can perform solo or group routines, but all music lyrics
and dance moves must be school appropriate or participants will be
disqualified.
April 2 will serve as the preliminaries. On April 4, dancers will be
cut from the contest, and the finals will be held on April 5.
Winners will receive $100 and will perform in the Tex-Anns’ annual
Spring Show May 3 and 4. Each contestant must complete and turn in
the form by April 2 with a $35 contest entrance fee. Tickets at the
door for April 4 are $4 and on April 5 are $5.
All proceeds will be donated to the team for next year’s expenses.
“We are starting this fundraiser this year to help promote dance
throughout the community,” said Tex-Ann dance instructor Jennifer
Williams. “Not everyone wants to be on a dance team, so we wanted to
give those that dance on their own the opportunity to show us what
they’ve got.”
